Gerald Drißner has received several awards and prizes for his journalistic work.

Axel-Springer-Prize for Young Journalists in 2011 (category: weekly/monthly publications)
His award-winning text ("Glücklich ist tot", lit.: "Happy is dead" - a word-play with the Arabic meaning of the first name of the main character in the text) was about a young Egyptian who was beaten to death by two policemen of the Mubarak regime. In the laudatory speech, it was said that Gerald Drißner foresaw what would move the whole world some time later. "You can't expect a journalist to have a more ingenious premonition" More....
